Whole House Audio is the way to provide audio throughout your house without having to have bulky equipment in every room. Volume controls or volume controls with source selectors are installed in strategic locations to control different “audio zones” throughout the house. With a whole house audio system, audio components are placed in hidden locations, either in one room or throughout the house. Speakers are installed in various locations around both inside and outside of your house. The inside speakers can be flush mounted in the walls or ceiling with grills that can be painted so they blend in to your decor, while the outside speakers can even be part of your landscaping in the form of a rock.
The most basic whole house audio system is a single source audio system that provides audio throughout the house from a single source, which only allows one program to be played throughout the whole house. Volume controls are installed in various zones to provide the ability to adjust the volume in each area of the house.
A more advanced whole house audio system is a multiple source audio system that provides audio throughout the house, which allows different programs to be played in different zones at the same time. Keypads, Touch screens, or remote controls provide the ability of source selection and volume control for each room. Some multiple source audio systems give advanced options such as the ability to change the radio/TV station, select a CD track, or even choose a specific song from a mp3 hard dive; all from a simple to use touch-screen or remote control. Whole house audio can be combined with video distribution so when the video signal is channeled throughout your house the audio still comes from the speakers already built into each room.
Whole House audio systems can even incorporate an intercom system through the phone system giving you the ability to communicate through the audio system and standard telephone system.
